Janet - pre-school leaderMy two elder children attended Old London Road Pre-school. My youngest son was due to start there in September 1999, when I heard it was going to close down. So I left my job and decided to re-launch it. I have worked with children since 1981 and enjoy watching them grow and develop in their own way. My favourite book is The Elves and the Shoemaker and my favourite song is Love is Like a Magic Penny. What I like best about my job is its unpredictability - even if I try to plan something I never actually do it as the children send me off in a different direction.
WendyI have worked in childcare for over 20 years. I started work as a private nanny, became a registered childminder, trained as a classroom assistant and then moved into pre-schools. The best thing about working with children is the unexpected. My own children (I have four daughters aged 13-21) have given me the best training for the job. My favourite story is The Blue Balloon and my favourite song is There was a princess long ago. I like dogs and the colours blue and purple. I run a girls' brigade company in my spare time and enjoy cooking and music.
DebbieI have been at Old London Road for 6 years now, and love the fact that the children are so enthusiastic and inspiring - always full of surprises. I like cats and the colour blue, and The Faraway Tree Stories is my favourite book. The best thing about my job is seeing each child develop new skills in the time they are with us. I have two sons, aged 11 and 13, who have been the best training I could have had for this job.
MichelleI have two children; Emma who is 14 years old and Adam who is 7. I've been working in childcare since 2004. I enjoy being with the children and seeing them develop. My favourite colour is turquoise and my favourite animals are dogs. My favourite song is Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer. In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis, cycling, walking and reading.
SarahI started working at Old London Road Pre-school in the summer term of 2008. I have 2 daughters, Becky was born in 2005 and Lucy in 2010. I love working with children and watching them develop so quickly. My favourite colour is pink, the brighter the better and my favourite book is 'The Gruffalo', I could read it again and again. In my spare time I enjoy sailing, travelling, caring for my family, watching rugby and continuing to improve my professional development.
AnyaI have been working in childcare for over 20 years. I came to work at Old London Road after hearing lovely things through one of the parents. My favourite story book character is Kipper and my favourite children's story is Peace At Last. In my spare time I like to read and swim. I find my job very rewarding. Every day is different and so much fun.
SharonI started working at Old London Road when my second son was attending and I was asked if I would like to stay. I am currently studying for an NVQ level 2 in childcare learning and development, but my most valuable training has been having three children of my own. My favourite children's song is Magic Penny and my favourite food is a cup of tea and custard cream biscuits.
MelissaI started working at Old London Road in September 2011 but have been working in childcare on and off for around 13 years. I found out about the vacancy through a friend who also works here. I have three children of my own; Luke, Lilly and Freddie. My favourite colour is pink and my favourite food is curry. I have cat called Orlando. I love seeing the children enjoy their time at pre-school and having fun - children make me smile!

We always aim to have above the minimum required ratio.
We actively encourage staff to continually update their skills by attending training workshops and conferences on a range of subject. Different members of staff have recently enjoyed learning more about outdoor play, child protection and cultural diversity amongst other things.
The Old London Road Pre-school Management Committee oversees the running of the organisation, following the constitution of the Pre-school Learning Alliance. The committee is made up of parents.
